Take a Look At Our Barbican Pigmentation Treatments

At Malmin Medical & Skin Clinic in Barbican we want you to look and feel your best, which is why we offer a variety of different medical and cosmetic procedures to help you achieve this. As a lot of you are returning from holiday we want to spotlight one common concern that can be accentuated by sunlight– pigmentation.

 What causes Pigmentation?

There are lots of factors that can cause pigmentation problems. The two most common causes are sunlight exposure and hormone changes which can create dark patches on the skin. Pigmentation can often be hereditary too. People of Asian descent commonly deal with pigmentation issues more than any other ethnic group.  Fortunately, there are several treatments which can provide help with your pigmentation.

Skin Peels

  • Skin Peels can help reduce sun spots, age spots and freckles. They work by deeply exfoliating the skin, encouraging the damaged skin cells to shed so that new brighter skin can be revealed. Depending on your pigmentation, a course of up to six peels may be recommended by our Aesthetic Practitioner. We will advise the best products to use at home to maintain pigmentation free skin.

 Laser Treatment

Our Harmony XL Pro laser machine offers highly effective results for treating pigmentation problems. Patchy areas of skin pigmentation can spoil the clarity of the skin and can look ageing. The problems are often associated with sun damage from over-exposure to the sun or sunbeds and are very common in the UK.

Treatment is suitable for the face or body and can diminish the appearance of pigmentation problems such as sun spots, age spots, liver spots and freckles.

  • Freckles, age spots and other minor blemishes are caused by melanin, a substance which gives our skin its colour. When melanin gathers in one spot, it appears as a discoloured area.  The wavelengths of light produced by laser technology are designed to be absorbed by these pigmented areas; the powerful light then “shatters” the pigment, causing it to be dispersed by the body’s lymphatic system. The spots will gradually disappear.
  • The treatments are specially designed for patient comfort and are safe and effective for all skin types, including dark skin.

Pigmentation problems can be difficult to treat, especially when you’re dealing with heredity issues. At Malmin Medical and Skin Clinic we will help you tackle those pigmentation issues to give you a beautiful and even skin tone. Book a complementary skin consultation with us today to discuss your skin concerns.
